movie-book tie-in Pride and prejudice by Jane Austen

Movie / book tie-in
Movie / book tie-in is very distinct in the movie industries. It is the transformation of an original material in form of book into another media like movie. According to Collier’s Yearbook, movie-tie-in creates an impact of popularizing a book. Collier’s view is that whenever a movie based on a book or a retold of a novel is a blockbuster, the book is becoming marketable and tends to be a best-seller as well as the film do.
There are so many distinguished example of this movie / book tie-in. Some of these are the Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Cinderella among the others.

The Pride and Prejudice
This novel of Jane Austen has been a reflection of society’s perception about marriage and the interaction of individuals with regards to social status. Pride and Prejudice presented contrasting attitudes of human being. These attitudes are depth and superficiality; honesty and dishonesty; pride and humility; independence and servile compliance; selfishness and generosity. Austen also shows the different personality of people in the society and identify who among them is the dominating and who are those meek and out of character.
This vivid human touch of the novel can consider as one of the reason why a decision of turning the printed material into a motion picture.

The book vs. the movie
The movie Pride and Prejudice is an abridgement of the book of the same title. Abridgement means that the story of the book is just summed up in the film but still it is the retelling of what the book offers. This means that the plot as well as the other elements of this literature material is of the same nature.

It’s Originality
Its originality can’t be doubted for this novel is considered to be the manifestation of life of Jane Austen, the author of the novel. This novel is said to be gradually being completed as Austen grow old with experiences in life. She wrote the novel based on her own experience, observation and knowledge. The limitation of the setting and the character is also bound by what Austen has. The heroine of the novel portrays the same social status as hers.
When we talk of the setting, it is stated that it happened in a rural area located in Hertfordshire, a county in southeast-central England. It is of the same setting portray in the film. It is related to Austen who lived in a rural country and has the same environment as the Bennet family has.
The novel is dealing with the family situations and the society which revolves around you. Every aspect of story is certainly congruent among the others. The key story which is Darcy and Elizabeth’s story is distinct that the subplot unifies with it.
